Sappi’s mission is to harness the power of trees to make life more sustainable; however, many customers don’t understand what that means or know the myriad of applications and end uses that come from wood fiber. The purpose of The Power of Trees video is to demonstrate the many benefits of trees and how wood fiber is the material of the future because it is renewable, regenerative, recyclable and remarkable. It can replace single-use plastic in many packaging applications and other synthetic materials that are now derived from fossil fuels. In fact, carbon from wood fiber is even being used to create jet fuel for commercial airliners.
The video displays how Sappi’s responsible forestry management not only ensures the health of the forest and enhances the biodiversity of the habitat, but also contributes to the circular economy by introducing sustainable and recyclable wood fiber into the production stream.
Additionally, The Power of Trees video is a highly effective tool to communicate and showcase Sappi’s many uses of wood fiber—even among its own work force. Some of Sappi’s own employees didn’t realize how many applications wood fiber is used in until seeing the video. This helps instill employee pride and encourage retention, and it has been a useful tool for recruitment and attracting new employees, as it shows how innovative, sustainable and forward-thinking the paper and packaging industry is. The Power of Trees campaign includes a video, social media, website, email and PR components, and it has run as a 60-second TV commercial in February 2024 in select markets.
