Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development (KFED)

Established in 2007, Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development (KFED) is an independent Abu Dhabi Government entity dedicated to empowering entrepreneurs and SMEs through financing, business support, capability building, and ecosystem partnerships. Since its inception, KFED has played a pivotal role in advancing entrepreneurship and supporting SME growth as a key driver of Abu Dhabi's economic diversification agenda.
Over the past two years, KFED has undertaken a transformative journey through the implementation of the KFED 2.0 Strategy, establishing a new strategic direction anchored by its vision to be the catalyst of a thriving enterprise ecosystem and its mission to champion the development of enterprises and entrepreneurs through funding, business support, capability building, and ecosystem connectivity services. The strategy introduced five strategic objectives: enabling MSME growth and scale, improving MSME productivity and capabilities, increasing ecosystem connectivity, supporting an entrepreneurial culture, and driving institutional excellence.
As part of this transformation, KFED evolved beyond its traditional financing role by adopting an integrated ecosystem model that combines financing, capability building, innovation support, market access, export enablement, and strategic partnerships. Delivered through the MZN Program's four strategic roles—MSME Financier, Strategic Enabler, Capability Builder, and MSME Ecosystem Hub. The model provides end-to-end support spanning entrepreneurship development, startup acceleration, SME growth, and business expansion. Few SME development organizations operate such a comprehensive ecosystem model under a single institutional mandate, positioning KFED as a unique enabler of entrepreneurship, SME competitiveness, and economic diversification across Abu Dhabi.
Today, KFED serves as a leading catalyst for entrepreneurship, innovation, and SME development, connecting entrepreneurs with funding, capabilities, markets, investors, and growth opportunities. Through its integrated ecosystem approach, KFED continues to strengthen entrepreneurial culture, enhance SME competitiveness, and contribute to sustainable economic growth, while reinforcing Abu Dhabi's position as a leading hub for entrepreneurship and innovation in line with the Emirate's long-term economic diversification and competitiveness ambitions.
