David Watson founded Neurolead in 2022 with a mission to ignite transformative change in leaders, empowering them to build and sustain psychologically safe workplaces.
Before founding Neurolead, David’s career spanned 15 years in the mining and resources sector. Starting his career as a carpenter, he progressed through operational roles in the Pilbara and Northern Territory, ultimately serving as an operational mining maintenance superintendent at Rio Tinto. Looking for his next challenge, he pursued an Advanced Diploma of Neuroscience of Leadership to gain a deeper understanding of decision-making and cognitive processes, focused on understanding and leading himself, to be more effective at leading and working with people.
This combination of operational expertise and neuroscience insight became the foundation for Neurolead’s immersive coaching approach, equipping leaders to apply evidence-based strategies in high-risk operational environments.
Neurolead’s programs help leaders, primarily in the global mining and resources industry, understand themselves, enhance team performance and foster psychologically safe workplaces. The company designs immersive bootcamps that blend real-world operational challenges with neuroscience-based insights, giving participants tools and behaviours they can immediately apply.
A defining feature of Neurolead’s success is its highly systemised delivery model, developed to ensure consistent quality and reliable replication across diverse and remote locations. Robust planning cycles, structured facilitation run sheets, participant accountability plans, coaching templates and post-program review processes underpin every workshop. These systems minimise errors and ensure the program can be replicated at a high level, regardless of location.
Using its proprietary Neurolead Learning Loop (pg3), David delivered the company’s inaugural bootcamp in 2024 at a silver mine in Durango, Mexico, through live interpretation. The session was so effective that the client requested rollout across all sites. To meet growing demand, David expanded the company to a full team (pg4), now comprising a general manager, Scott Elliott, plus six coaches and six in-house interpreters, enabling simultaneous, culturally tailored delivery across multiple continents.
Since its inception, Neurolead has delivered 30 bootcamps globally across South America, Africa, North America and Australia (pg5), engaging more than 1,000 operational leaders and earning consistently high feedback for measurable impact on leadership and safety culture.
