Hagia Sophia Full Experience is an outstanding customer engagement initiative built on deep insight into visitor behavior within high-density cultural environments. The project is founded on a simple yet powerful principle: meaningful engagement emerges through continuous, responsive communication between visitors, space, and operations. Developed under the ownership of the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Culture and Tourism and operated by DEM Museums, the initiative reframes customer engagement as an active dialogue rather than a series of instructions. Instead of directing visitors through rigid rules, the experience is designed to guide them intuitively through spatial, digital, and operational cues. The experience unfolds as a single, continuous journey across two interconnected environments. At the Hagia Sophia History and Experience Museum, visitors are introduced to the historical, architectural, and cultural context of Hagia Sophia through a hybrid museum approach that combines immersive, technology-driven storytelling with the display of original artifacts exhibited for the first time. Audiovisual installations, spatial narratives, and authentic objects allow visitors to build intellectual understanding and emotional connection before encountering the monument itself. The journey then continues at the Hagia Sophia Mosque, where visitors engage directly with the living structure. As a UNESCO World Heritage Site and Türkiye’s most iconic landmark welcoming nearly 10 million visitors annually, Hagia Sophia represents 1,700 years of intercultural history. Multilingual audio guides in 23 languages and augmented reality applications reveal architectural details, mosaics, and hidden layers that are otherwise inaccessible, while preserving the site’s sacred character. Seamless operational design ensures that the transition between museum and mosque feels intuitive and uninterrupted. Wayfinding, queue management, ticketing, and real-time flow control respond dynamically to visitor behavior, allowing both spaces to be experienced as parts of a single narrative. Across both environments, immersive storytelling deepens cognitive and emotional engagement, while experience-first operations ensure calm continuity even during peak visitor density. Real-time monitoring and automation maintain uninterrupted flow, keeping visitors focused on the experience.
