Michael Stivala, CEO, Suburban Propane has transformed a nearly-100-year-old propane company into a technology agnostic, consumer-driven organization that offers its two-million customers in 42 states an array of sustainable and traditional energy sources. Through investments in California-based Oberon Fuels which produces a range of ultra-low-carbon or carbon-negative fuels that are practical, economical, and sustainable, and is the only domestic producer of renewable dimethyl ether ("rDME"); Independence Hydrogen, a pioneer in the American hydrogen economy, developing a gaseous production, storage, and distribution network to deliver affordable, fuel cell grade hydrogen at a lower carbon intensity than liquid alternatives; and Suburban RNG, which through the construction of dairy digesters, converts waste to create renewable natural gas reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Michael Stivala’s keen focus on the evolution of sustainable energy has allowed him to make well-placed and well-timed investments, acquisitions, and partnerships in emerging technologies in the renewable-energy space.
