Mobile Medical Global: the rapidly expanding business that brings medical testing to the patient

Mobile Medical Global is an innovative business offering non-invasive medical tests in a very different way.

Rather than expecting people who may be elderly, in poor-health, immuno-suppressed, recovering from surgery or simply time-poor, to go to hospital for their x-ray, ECG, echocardiogram, ultrasound or blood test, we take the test to them. Based in Trinidad and Tobago, while also serving nearby islands including Grenada and St Lucia, we carry out these investigations in homes, doctors’ offices, care settings and workplaces.

The result is a service that’s safer and considerably less stressful for patients. With same-day appointments often available, our service leads to quicker diagnosis, faster treatment and ultimately better health outcomes.

The idea came to founder David Richards when he was working at a private hospital as a radiographer. An elderly woman who’d suffered a fall arrived by ambulance, and was stretchered down two flights of stairs in great distress. David realised it would have been much better for her to have had the x-ray at home.

The business was registered in 2013 but took off in 2021 after David secured investors and purchased the necessary equipment. Today we’re growing rapidly to meet demand. Study numbers soared 160.6%, up from 1583 FYE March 2023 to 4126 FYE March 2025. Turnover increased 105% from $535k TTD (Trinidad and Tobago dollars) to $1.1m over the same period.

Taking the machine to the patient rather than the patient to the machine has numerous benefits:

-Eliminates need for special transport like ambulances
-Being tested in a familiar setting is much more comfortable
-High-risk patients can avoid busy outpatient departments
-Reduces transport time and costs
-Allows patients to pick convenient appointment times
-Reduces burden on relatives/carers of accompanying unwell patients to hospital
-Less time away from their job for working people, who can also avoid issues like travel and parking.

We continue to evolve. While still accepting individual bookings, we’re now pivoting more to partnering with doctors who have their own clinics or do home visits. This means patients can receive quicker diagnosis and treatment as images are handed immediately to doctors.
