Ayala Land: Creating Sustainable Mixed-use Estates with a Strong Sense of Place
Ayala Land Inc. (ALI) is the largest and only full-line property developer in the Philippines. The company offers a wide range of products and services, including residential properties, commercial complexes, shopping centers, offices and hotels.
ALI maintains its position as the most trusted property developer in the Philippines by building master-planned, sustainable estates that evolve and increase in economic value and social and cultural impact. One of the group’s historic achievements is how it developed the swamplands of Makati into the Philippines’ financial capital.
In Makati in the 1960s, Ayala was way ahead of its time when it pioneered the combination of residential districts supported by retail, recreation, offices, and entertainment amenities. In the 1990s, the company transformed another large parcel of land, the former military base, Fort Bonifacio, into today’s vibrant and forward-looking Bonifacio Global City (BGC) in Taguig.
Since then, ALI has replicated the best features of its past developments into 28 other estates that are prosperous, culturally relevant, highly interconnected, eco-efficient and secure. These developments, such as Vertis North in Quezon City, Ayala Center in Cebu, Nuvali in Laguna, and Alviera in Pampanga, have inspired rapid economic and cultural growth in various parts of the country.
However, ALI’s mixed-use estates go beyond maximizing space, reinforcing business interests, and increasing land value. Ultimately, the company provides a rich sense of place by building self-sustaining, environmentally sensitive and socially responsive communities that improve the quality of life of people.
In terms of culture, ALI has always supported Philippine art. It established Ayala Museum in the 1960s and mounted public art all over Makati and BGC throughout the 1970s to the 2000s. In recent years, ALI stepped up its efforts in educating a broader public on art production using alternative venues. For example, building facades, parks, and even parking lots are used as exhibition spaces to foster new forms of creative expression.
