Our nominated team, composed of Chun-Chi (Social Media) and Chieh-Yu (Event Planning), represents the Hakka Association of NY’s new generation of cultural promoters. Hakka is a community with deep heritage, yet it faces the challenge of declining recognition among younger generations. Many young Hakka people are unaware of their roots or unable to speak the language. To address this cultural gap, we have worked closely together to reframe Hakka identity in a way that feels accessible, modern, and engaging to today’s audience.
