Janardhan Reddy Duvvuri, Application Engineer at Discover Financial Services, has managed a groundbreaking work on the design and evolution of the Fraud Investigation and Recovery Engine (FIRE). This product is a very scalable application that forms the foundation of efficient fraud prevention, detection, and remediation by Discover’s financial systems for millions of U.S. cardholders. FIRE was developed to consolidate the disparate fraud management systems into a unified, intelligently integrated platform that will enable investigators to facilitate the management of fraud cases seamlessly from the beginning to the end. He developed the custom UI pages using Brazos, dojo, JQUERY, and applied CSS and style sheets. He simplified workflows, developed optimized real-time data streams, implemented REST APIs, as well as optimized batch processing by embracing advanced techniques in the area of application engineering. His work greatly promoted system responsiveness and user efficiency. He also developed J2EE applications using Java with a java IDE that is Eclipse.
His leadership, time taken in handling cases were reduced by almost 60%, giving investigators the room to process 25 to 30 cases a day instead of the earlier 10 to 15 cases. Moreover, the platform also significantly increased rates of recovery of frauds, from under 60% to a consistent 75 to 90%, and made auditors better prepared by providing complete logging, encryption, and compliance options.
His work made FIRE an active strategic facility for Discover, which could seamlessly integrate with CRM, law, and notification systems. Customers can interact with and abide by regulations instantly. He was rewarded with several Bravo awards for the top leadership’s recognition of his proactive role, his expertise in technology, and his strong commitment to lead major projects and achieve enterprise milestone compliance well ahead of deadlines.
