Question 1 : Provide a brief description / background of your nominated organizational, departmental, team, or individual circumstance. (Your response to this question will be used for public display if your entry is awarded.)
Makers Nutrition is the premier all-in-one dietary supplement partner. We handle supplement manufacturing, label design, packaging, and order fulfillment for companies of all sizes, from startups to well-known celebrity brands. Without the solid foundation fostered through better communication between management and all departments, none of the absolute success or clients have experienced would have been possible. We now take better care of our employees and our clients than ever before. Our profit-share 401k system provides 5% payment into a fund for each employee regardless of the employee's choice to participate at all. By funding our employees' future, our team can sleep more soundly, knowing they have a plan--and a safe one at that. Founder and CEO Jason Provenzano understands there is more to life than work. A family man himself, Mr. Provenzano wants every employee to have a good work-life balance, which is why we do not work weekends and maintain a set schedule. He makes a point to plan company outings so his team can enjoy events such as bowling night and major league baseball games, transportation and food provided (pre-COVID). Even during COVID-19, we have managed to create in-office events like a socially distanced Halloween costume contest and a Thanksgiving food drive with some added friendly competition. We donated over $30,000 worth of immune system supporting dietary supplements to Feed The Hungry, a non-profit organization that distributes nutrition to those who need help in over 94 nations. We did not want stop there because we knew as an essential business, we had an opportunity to make an impact. Friends of Karen, another non-profit we have proudly given to twice prior, is dear to our hearts. This charity provides supplies for families of children who are terminally ill. 2020 may have been the last year of life for many of the children whose families did not have the means to provide what they wish they could. That is why, while we may have otherwise given toys and physical items, we gave $500 worth of gift cards to play our part safely for five special families.

Between the COVID-19 donations and our holidays donations, we have given to charitable organizations including Long Island Cares, YES Community Counseling Center, and Friends of Karen. With an annual revenue goal of $25 million, we worked our way to nearly $30 million. It is no easy feat, but our team’s commitment proved and continues to prove that the sky is the limit when priorities are straight. Makers Nutrition landed itself on the Inc. 5000 list of Fastest Growing Privately Held Companies in the U.S. for the second time in three years and earned many honors including the 2021 Grand Globee Sales and Customer Service Excellent Award and 2021 Business Intelligence Group Excellence in Customer Service Award. Our private label stock program excelled dramatically, with our extension of immune health formulas selling like wildfire, serving an unprecedented number of clients. Makers Nutrition did not close any facility for even one day due to COVID-19. We have made tremendous investments in reconfiguring our entire infrastructure for safe distancing, in personnel and in proactive inventory acquisition and management. We have kept our entire operation moving at full capacity and full speed. Though we made arrangements to be spaced out safely throughout the office, employees were able to work from home for an extended period of time. This was made possible due to our swift action in creating portals for each employee with forms and logs to keep everything in order and not lose track or let anything fall through the cracks while working from home. With an unprecedented number of clients and orders, our team has never been busier. It is an honor for us to serve companies all over the world, especially during a time like now. Our teamwork and proactive approaches to keep our business and clients thriving during these challenging times especially is nothing short of inspiring and remarkable. We have helped thousands of clients and individuals in need through the excellent customer service we continue to provide and it is truly an honor to work with such a magnificent team of genuine people.
Question 3 : Provide examples of the strategies / plans you have introduced, in order to attain your nominated organizational, departmental, team, or individual achievements. Explain why the highlighted achievements are significant / unique.
While our carriers almost always deliver freight on time and in pristine condition, during the COVID-19 crisis, we did experience a hiccup. After understanding that our best carrier dropped the ball and delivered a shipment to Texas when it should have gone to Arizona, E.V.P. Steve Finnegan arranged a re-delivery, accommodating our client with above and beyond service. If the product were found in bad condition due to unusually long transit time, Steve communicated that we would refund his entire shipping cost. Swift handling of the situation by Steve resulted in the following exchange. Client: “The shipment arrived, product is in good shape. Thank you for your help. I look forward to blowing this order out and making an even bigger order. Also, I opened a canister up, put a scoop in water and stirred. It dissolved well and tasted delicious. This formula is a winner. Thank you for the concession on the shipping refund, too. Great service recovery by you and your team. Thank you.” Steve responded, thanking our client for his business and apologies for the holdup in receiving his product. Client: “You have a great team, and your folks did a good job communicating with me during the entire situation. I plan on leaving you guys a five-star Google review. Most of all, I look forward to a long-term fruitful relationship.”
